Release of GhostBSD 22.01.12

The release of GhostBSD 22.01.12, a desktop distribution based on FreeBSD 13-STABLE and offering a MATE user environment, has been published. By default, GhostBSD uses the ZFS file system. Both Live mode and installation to a hard drive are supported (using its own ginstall installer written in Python). Boot images are generated for the x86_64 architecture (2.58 GB).

In the new version, components that provide optional support for the OpenRC init system have been removed from the base system. The dhcpcd package has also been removed from the distribution in favor of the standard DHCP client from FreeBSD. VLC media player has been rebuilt with UPNP support. The distribution is now identified in the /etc/os-release file (GhostBSD 13.0/22.01.12/7000 is now written instead of FreeBSD 7-STABLE) and GhostBSD is indicated in the uname command output. The initgfx package is used to automatically configure AMD Radeon HD XNUMX and older GPUs. Enabled retrieval of data on security issues from the vuxml.freebsd.org database and flagging of packages with unpatched vulnerabilities. PXNUMXzip has been removed from the base distribution due to vulnerabilities and maintenance issues.
