Sourcegraph added search for Fedora repositories

The Sourcegraph search engine, which is aimed at indexing publicly available source code, has been extended with the ability to search and navigate through the source code of all packages distributed through the Fedora Linux repository, in addition to the previously provided search for GitHub and GitLab projects. More than 34.5 thousand Fedora source packages indexed. Flexible means are provided for generating a selection based on repositories, packages, programming languages or function names, as well as a visual review of the found code with the ability to analyze function calls and variable definition places.

Initially, the developers of Sourcegraph intended to increase the index size to 5.5 million repositories with more than one star on GitHub or GitLab, but realized that GitHub and GitLab indexing alone was not enough to fully cover open source, since many projects do not use these platforms. The best option is additional indexing of source codes from distribution repositories. As for the code from GitHub and GitLab, there are currently about 2.2 million repositories included in the index with six stars or more.
