At a recent event in China, Redmi, now operating independently of Xiaomi, announced its first non-phone product, the Redmi 1A washing machine. The next event is expected , when the brand will introduce a flagship smartphone based on Snapdragon 855 and some βanother productβ.
There were speculations as to what kind of second product we might be talking about - there was even a theory that it would be a device for a smart home. However, a new Twitter post by well-established Indian whistleblower Sudhanshu Ambhore assures us that we are talking about a laptop branded Redmi. Yes, the insider reports that Redmi is going to release its first laptops along with the flagship smartphone (apparently, more than one model), similar to Xiaomi's Mi Notebook series.

There is no other evidence to support this information yet, but such a move is quite realistic, given that Xiaomi already produces computers, so its subsidiary is quite capable of offering its own models to the market. Moreover, as part of the same approach, Huawei and Honor, for example, release computers of the MateBook and MagicBook series, respectively.
The Redmi laptop, if it does come out, will definitely cost less than Xiaomi's current offerings, but may also ditch some features like a discrete graphics card or use less expensive materials like a plastic case. Redmi laptops could also be exclusive to China, which would be a big negative.
