343 Industries to Host Halo Pro Series Online Tournament for Amateur and Pro Teams

Studio 343 Industries secured a partnership with the esports organization FACEIT and announced an online tournament in Halo: The Master Chief Collection. Basically, gamers will fight in Halo 2: Anniversary, but matches will also be held in other projects of the collection.

The tournament will start on May 23rd. Matches will be played every Saturday until July 18th. The format of the competition is designed so that amateur and professional teams can participate. The first tournament will be open, with up to sixteen teams participating. Next week, the top eight of them will take on eight pro teams from the recent DreamHack Anaheim championship.

The top eight teams from this competition will automatically qualify for the next pro tournament, replacing the top eight teams from DreamHack Anaheim. After the end of the professional tournament, the cycle will repeat itself. Tournaments are held according to the Olympic system.

Both open (amateur) and professional tournaments have a prize fund for the winning teams. By finishing first in the open competition, the team will win $250. At the same time, a team of professional esports players will receive $2 for winning their league.

Halo: The Master Chief Collection is out on PC and Xbox One. So far, the PC version only includes Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo: Reach and Halo 2: Anniversary, while the console version includes Halo: Reach, Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo 4. All of these will eventually appear in the PC compilation.
