Around 50 UK residents could be fined £1000 if they fail to register their drones with the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) today.

New legislation will require all UK owners of drones or model aircraft weighing more than 250g to register the aircraft with the CAA by 30 November.

The CAA estimates there are around 90 drone owners in the UK. Earlier this week it was revealed that only 000 drone pilots had registered. The owner of a registered drone weighing between 40g and 000kg must pay an annual fee of £250 to the CAA.
