Deputy Prime Minister Maxim Akimov, as part of a working meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, spoke about the problems of developing fifth-generation mobile networks (5G) in our country.

Mr. Akimov admits that there are difficulties with the allocation of frequencies for 5G networks: “The situation there is not easy. We have a spectrum that we can provide, of course, but this will lead to, let's say, monopolization of the market. And the upper range - this is 3,4-3,8 gigahertz - is mainly used for special tasks. Of course, appropriate decisions are necessary to intensify this work, we will coordinate on the side of the government.”
At the same time, the Deputy Prime Minister announced the cost of deploying 5G infrastructure in our country. According to him, companies will spend about 650 billion rubles on the creation of fifth-generation communication networks.
Maxim Akimov also turned to Vladimir Putin with a request to give instructions that would help solve the problem with the allocation of frequencies for 5G. “It would be powerful support for this project,” said the Deputy Prime Minister.
