Air taxi of the Chinese company EHang will take off into the sky of Austria

Recently, the Chinese company EHang reportedthat soon an air taxi of its production will begin to fly in the sky over Austria. The third largest city in Austria, Linz, was chosen as the test site for the flights. A complete transport infrastructure for civilian unmanned air taxis will begin to be built in Linz next year. But you won't have to wait that long. Introductory flights of the EHang air taxi over Linz will start "very soon".

In China, EHang has come a long way in promoting the air taxi service. IN particular, in several tourist areas of the country, air terminals have begun to be created to take tourists along scenic routes. In China, full-fledged, although limited in travel zones, air transport routes using air taxis will begin commercial passenger service before the end of this year. But a huge achievement for EHang promises to be penetration into foreign markets and, in particular, into Europe.

The pilot project in Linz is being developed with the participation of two local companies - FACC AG and Linz AG. Both of them have experience in creating transport infrastructures, including electric transport. The choice for the Linz test was not made by chance. This city is characterized by a small center and a vast suburban area. It is difficult to get from one area of Linz to another using regular transport, but air taxis promise to make it much faster. In addition, there is enough uninhabited territory around Linz to create safe air routes for air transport, which is still little studied in practice. It's not even about disaster. Air taxis make a lot of noise, and no one will like it.

Practical tests of the EHang air taxi in Linz are designed to study and test in the field the entire range of known and unknown nuances of the operation of such services, from advertising the service and the ticket sales system to servicing unmanned vehicles during operation. The tests will also help in the development of relevant regulations and will allow unmanned aerial transport to be seamlessly integrated into the planning system for future urban infrastructure.
