Intel's DG1 Discrete Graphics Sampling Activity Intensifies

The first mentions of developer kits attached to Intel DG1 discrete graphics cards in the ECE customs database появились at the end of October last year. By January, it became known that in the near future Intel would distribute the corresponding video cards only among developers. Now in the ECE database, new accessories are added to the DG1.

In early February, three new products related to Intel DG1 were noted in the corresponding database at once. A set of accessories for developers with markings DGD13KEF2B appeared in the "pre-beta" status, but here are two other kits with markings DGD14KEF1Q ΠΈ DGD14KIM1Q already had the status of qualification samples. What these products are, it is impossible to judge from these records. Even a drive with Intel DG1 discrete graphics sample software may well require separate certification if it is endowed with built-in data encryption.

Tellingly, since October, these products have evolved in their numerical numbering from 12 to 13 for the β€œpreliminary stage of readiness” sample, and then to 14 for qualification samples.

There is a certain increase in Intel's activity in distributing everything necessary for developers to adapt their software to the features of the new DG1 series discrete graphics. A product of this generation should appear on the market before the end of this year, but it cannot be ruled out that in the end everything will be limited to the mobile segment. According to unofficial data, even within Intel, there is still no agreement on a strategy for simultaneously promoting discrete and integrated graphics of the Xe family to the market.
