Created as a result of cooperation between the automotive alliance and Microsoft, the Alliance Intelligent Cloud platform will use cloud technologies, as well as artificial intelligence and Internet of Things technologies of the Microsoft Azure platform.

The first vehicles to use the Alliance Intelligent Cloud platform will be the all-new 2019 Renault Clio and select Nissan Leaf models sold in Japan and Europe. They will also be the first vehicles on the Microsoft Connected Vehicle platform available to the mass market.

Vehicles using the new platform will have access to firmware updates in a timely manner, as well as provide drivers with infotainment services and more.

Because the new platform is highly scalable, it will be used to implement both current and future connected car functions, leveraging numerous legacy vehicle solutions. These features include the ability to receive global navigation system data for positioning, proactive monitoring, receive software updates over the air, and more.
