The situation with the spread of coronavirus in the US and Europe is escalating, so Amazon management the decision to provide all employees in these regions with medical masks and daily temperature control from the beginning of next week. Non-contact thermometers will detect those whose body temperature has exceeded 38 degrees Celsius. These employees will be denied access to the place of work, they will be able to return only after three days from the moment the temperature returns to normal.
At the same time, Amazon will begin supplying staff with medical masks that were ordered a few weeks ago. There is a small nuance - employees will get masks of the simplest sample, which are used for a basic level of protection. Previously acquired N95 respirators, the company will send to medical institutions or donate at a purchase price to charitable and government organizations.
Surveillance cameras at Amazon facilities will be used to enforce social distancing between employees using special software. In the United States, nineteen Amazon facilities have reported cases of coronavirus infection among employees. Last December, Amazon had 798 employees. Last month, the company expressed its readiness to hire another 100 workers, as well as increase the payroll. Amazon said this week that more than 80 βrecruitsβ have already been hired from this number. The increase in wages until the end of April will force the company to increase spending by more than the previously announced $350 million.
