Pretty soon, this summer, AMD should introduce and release its new Ryzen 3000 series desktop processors, which will be built on the Zen 2 architecture and will be manufactured using the 7nm process technology. The well-known American online store Newegg has reduced prices for a number of second-generation AMD Ryzen processors. So, the eight-core processor Ryzen 7 2700 fell in price immediately by $50 and is now sold for $249. In turn, the price of the “popular” six-core AMD Ryzen 5 2600 has dropped from $200 to $165. Finally, the flagship octa-core Ryzen 7 2700X is now selling for $295, well below its main competitor, the Core i7-8700K.
A similar price cut was seen a year ago with first generation Ryzen processors before their successors. This approach allows you to reduce the existing inventory of products, making room for new chips. And the current price cut once again indicates that the release of third-generation Ryzen processors on the Zen 2 architecture is just around the corner.
Recall that according to rumors, the announcement of the Ryzen 3000 will take place as part of the Computex 2019 exhibition in early summer. And sales of new products should begin in about a month, in July. New AMD processors should bring a noticeable performance boost, which will provide both architectural changes and a "move" to a more advanced 7nm process technology.
