AMD begins cooperation with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas racing team

A sign that AMD has free marketing funds can be considered cooperation with Formula 1 racing teams. In 2018, after a six-year break, it resumed its sponsorship of Scuderia Ferrari, now it’s time to support the champion of the last six seasons - Mercedes-AMG Petronas.

AMD begins cooperation with the Mercedes-AMG Petronas racing team

In a joint press release The partners announced that as part of the collaboration, the AMD logo will decorate both sides of the cockpit of Mercedes-AMG Petronas racing cars, the uniforms of team pilots and technical staff, as well as support facilities. In addition, the team's technical specialists will use AMD EPYC server processors and laptops based on Ryzen PRO mobile processors. The first race with the new symbols on board Mercedes-AMG Petronas cars will take place on February 14 this year.

This is not the only case of AMD technical cooperation with Formula 1 racing teams. In addition to the already mentioned Scuderia Ferrari, in 2018 the company provided Haas technicians with access to a Cray CS500 supercomputer based on its own EPYC 7000 processors to perform calculations in the field of aerodynamics. Cooperation with Ferrari also has a rich history - the partners even produced souvenirs for internal use. In August 2018, branded scarlet backpacks were seen in the hands of employees of the Japanese representative office of AMD.
