AMD Re-Releases Radeon Software Driver 19.12.2 Adding Support for RX 5500 XT

AMD Today presented low-cost mainstream graphics accelerator Radeon RX 5500 XT, which in 4 GB version at a recommended price of $169 is designed to replace the Radeon RX 580 and challenge the GeForce GTX 1650 Super 4 GB. And the version with 8 GB of RAM, with a recommended price of $199, will give additional room for performance at high resolutions with increased quality of textures.

Recently, AMD also released a massive graphics driver update called Radeon Software Adrenalin 2020 Edition, which has been available for download for a couple of days now. In addition to a whole mountain of innovations and functions, it brought support Detroit: Become Human. And today, immediately after the announcement of the new video card, this driver was re-released, although under the same name - Radeon 19.12.2 WHQL.

Judging by the description, there are no fundamental differences between the driver dated December 10th and the version dated December 12th. However, it is possible that AMD has already made some changes, because a large-scale driver update brought with it a bunch of problems that some users of Radeon video cards complain about who rushed to install the update.

Recall that along with fixing some known issues, Radeon Software 19.12.2 WHQL also brought 20 different innovations and features, of which the following can be distinguished:

  • All-new Radeon Software with a redesigned interface, available in in-game overlay mode via Alt + R or Alt + Z;

  • built-in web browser to view important information, step-by-step guides or tips right in the games;
  • Radeon Boost - increased performance in supported games due to dynamic resolution with minimal quality drop in active scenes;
  • integer scaling - low resolution stretching mode, when each original pixel is represented by exactly 4, 9 or 12 real ones;
  • support for DirectX 9 and earlier Radeon RX 5000 graphics cards in Radeon Anti-Lag, as well as global activation of the feature;
  • support for DirectX 11 in Radeon Image Sharpening, adjustable sharpening and the ability to turn on / off right during the game;
  • streaming games on mobile devices more conveniently via AMD Link due to the new mobile application and a number of optimizations;
  • an all-new Radeon Software installer with faster setup times, a simplified process, and a new and improved factory reset option;
  • DirectML filters based on machine learning - visual noise reduction and scaling of photos and videos directly from the Radeon Software Media Gallery.

Radeon Software Adrenalin 2019 Edition 19.12.2 can be downloaded on 64-bit versions of Windows 7 or Windows 10 as with AMD official site, or from the Radeon Settings menu. It is designed for video cards and integrated graphics of the Radeon HD 7000 family and above.
