AMD Confirms 7nm Ryzen 3000 Processors Coming in QXNUMX

At the Quarterly Reporting Conference, AMD CEO Lisa Su did her best to avoid directly mentioning the timing of the announcement of third-generation 7nm Ryzen desktop processors with the Zen 2 architecture, although she spoke without a shadow of hesitation about the timing of the announcement of their server relatives of the Rome family, as well as GPUs Navi for gaming application. The last two types of products should be introduced in the third quarter, although due to the specifics of the server segment, shipments of new generation EPYC processors will begin in the current quarter. Regarding new desktop processors, AMD management only said that the company would return to their discussion in the coming weeks.

AMD's annual shareholder meeting has just ended, and it's become definitively clear, to what three months does the enlarged period of the market debut of 7-nm Matisse processors come down to. A slide from AMD's shareholder presentation openly lists 2rd generation Ryzen processors as products available for purchase in the third quarter of this year. At the same time, gaming graphics cards with the Navi architecture will appear, which will be located below the Radeon VII in terms of speed and price, as Lisa Su previously explained. Finally, the formal debut of second-generation EPYC server processors with the same Zen XNUMX architecture as Matisse is also scheduled for the third quarter.

AMD Confirms 7nm Ryzen 3000 Processors Coming in QXNUMX

In general, since April it has been known that at the opening of Computex 2019 on May 2, Lisa Su will talk about new processors with the Zen 2019 architecture, but this information does not contradict what was seen on the slide for shareholders. Computex XNUMX is indeed a convenient place for a preliminary demonstration of processors, and AMD may start selling them in July, which will open the third quarter of this year.

The other day we learned that Lisa Su will also speak at the June E3 2019 conference, and the Navi architecture talk is on the agenda. In addition, today a report on 7nm Navi GPUs was seen in the list of information mentioned at the August conference Hot Chips. All this suggests that by August at least game versions of Navi will be presented. At the quarterly reporting event, AMD representatives admitted that Navi will soon debut in the computing acceleration segment, so this architecture can be discussed at Hot Chips in August in a different context.

Note that on the shareholder slide, AMD credits the 7nm Ryzen processors with stunning performance, rich functionality, and high energy efficiency. It sounds intriguing, it remains to wait for official details, since the abundance of rumors against the backdrop of a protracted wait has already pretty tired everyone.
