AMD Introduces Radeon RX 560 XT - China Exclusive Price Reduction

Especially for the Chinese market, AMD has released a new entry-level video card Radeon RX 560 XT based on the Polaris 10 core, which has taken a place between the RX 560 and RX 570 accelerators. Sapphire, a close partner of AMD, is the only manufacturer of the new product so far.

According to the specifications, the Radeon RX 560 XT is a stripped-down version of the Radeon RX 570, which itself is built on the basis of a simplified Polaris 10 core. Compared to the RX 570, the new video card lost 4 more computing units - the total number was 28 instead of a full set of 36 In addition, the base and boost clocks of the RX 560 XT core are also reduced, respectively from 1168 to 973 MHz (~83%) and from 1244 to 1073 MHz (~86%). Thus, shader and texture performance will be about three-quarters of the capabilities of a more complete version of the video card. It is possible that the owners will be able to actively use overclocking.

The performance of GDDR5 memory is also reduced, but thanks to the preservation of the 256-bit bus, the throughput has decreased insignificantly: from 7 to 6,6 Gb / s. Sapphire will release cards with 4 and 8 GB of video memory. It is noteworthy that the new product also retained all 32 ROPs from Polaris 10, so the pixel rendering speed will decrease only due to the core clock frequency, because AMD ROPs are not so dependent on the speed of the memory controller. Power consumption at full load for some reason remained unchanged compared to the Radeon RX 570 - 150 watts.

Such a card would be in demand outside of China as well, as AMD's current product line-up clearly sees a major gap between the RX 560 and RX 570, with the latter delivering an almost 2x advantage in every way. However, do not expect that regional sales restrictions will eventually be lifted. Last fall, the company began offering the Radeon RX 580 2048SP in China. The reason for this limited practice is that Chinese consumers have a stronger focus on entry-level and mid-range graphics cards than Western users, which is why AMD and NVIDIA are aiming to offer them more choice in this price range. It also allows the use of rejected chips.
