AMD Ends StoreMI Support But Promises To Replace It With New Technology

AMD has officially announced that on March 31st it will stop supporting StoreMI technology, which allows you to combine hard drives and solid state drives into one logical volume. The company also promised to introduce a new version of the technology with improved features in the second quarter of this year.

AMD Ends StoreMI Support But Promises To Replace It With New Technology

StoreMI technology was introduced with Ryzen 2000-series (Pinnacle Ridge) processors and related 400-series chipsets. Subsequently, AMD added support for the X399 chipset for Ryzen Threadripper, and even later, Ryzen 3000-series processors (Matisse) and X570 system logic.

The technology not only makes it possible to combine hard drives and solid state drives into one logical volume, but also allows you to enjoy the benefits of high speed. This is achieved thanks to the appropriate software that analyzes the data, highlights the most used ones and stores them on a faster drive. AMD developers claim that using StoreMI makes Windows boot up to 2,3 times faster. As for applications and games, their loading is accelerated by 9,8 and 2,9 times, respectively.

As of March 31, the StoreMI software is no longer available for download. Users who have already downloaded StoreMI will be able to continue using the disk merge technology. However, the developers warn that the company's resources will be redirected to create a replacement, so technical support for the current version of the software will not be provided. AMD also does not recommend downloading StoreMI from third-party resources, as the download cannot be guaranteed secure. As a temporary replacement, it is proposed to use alternative solutions such as Enmotus FuzeDrive.
