Unofficial sources have been mentioning the code designation "Arcturus" for a very long time, and only in February it became clear that under it lies the Radeon Instinct MI100 computing accelerator, combining an architecture related to Navi with HBM2 memory. Now plans to release the accelerator in the next half of the year are confirmed by the technical director of AMD.
As the site notes
Estimated specifications of the Radeon Instinct MI100 have already been discussed previously. The number of stream processors compared to its predecessors can be increased up to 8192 pieces. The increase in performance will be twofold. The graphics processor with CDNA architecture will operate at frequencies from 1090 to 1333 MHz, the memory frequency can reach 1000 MHz. It is important that the TDP level will be reduced to 200 W, which will certainly allow the Radeon Instinct MI100 accelerator boards to be equipped with passive radiators, which in the server chassis will be blown by powerful case fans.
