AMD Ryzen 9 3950X can be bought in Russia for at least $1000

The 9-core Ryzen 3950 749X processor was priced at $1000 by AMD back in the summer, but it didn't go on sale until November. Demand significantly exceeds supply even a week after the announcement, in many retail chains you simply cannot find a novelty, and if this model is available, it is offered at a price of more than $9. Comments from AMD representatives make us think that there are not so many technical difficulties with the release of the Ryzen 3950 XNUMXX, and the shortage is only a consequence of errors in sales planning.

AMD Ryzen 9 3950X can be bought in Russia for at least $1000

The sixteen-core Ryzen 9 3950X has been on the shelves for a very long time. AMD promised to release it at the beginning of summer, at the same time assigning a price tag of $749 to the future model. Initially it was planned that the processor will go on sale in September, but in the last days of the corresponding month, the company made an announcement that shipments are being postponed to November. Formally, the Ryzen 9 3950X went on sale a week before the end of November, but the first batches were sold out very quickly, and the real prices were significantly higher than recommended by the manufacturer.

It's been more than a week since the Ryzen 9 3950X went on sale, and there are no signs of improvement. In Germany, the chances of buying a processor are higher for those who are willing to pay more than 900 euros for it. In the US, either those with a quick response and a budget determined by the manufacturer, or those who are ready to pay at least $9 for a processor in the secondary market, can count on buying a Ryzen 3950 1000X. At the very least, a popular online auction is full of offers from American sellers who are ready to give up their Ryzen 9 3950X copy for more than $1100.

But Russian buyers do not have to stand in lines, because this week the range has noticeably expanded online stores, which have commercial copies of the Ryzen 9 3950X. Prices start at 67 rubles, which roundly can be considered the equivalent of $500.

AMD CTO Mark Papermaster shared some interesting comments about the Ryzen 9 3950X shortage situation with Tom's Hardware. According to him, the company's interaction with TSMC, when determining the range of manufactured processors, takes into account in advance the number of instances with specific frequency characteristics. It is the planning of this ratio that determines AMD's ability to meet demand in a timely manner. Processors take time to produce, making it difficult to respond quickly to fluctuations in demand.
