AMD is back in the top 500 most successful companies in the US

AMD continues to build on its success both tactically and strategically. After a three-year hiatus, it returned to the Fortune 500, Fortune magazine's list of the XNUMX largest US companies, ranked by revenue, in its latest major branding achievement. And this can be considered another reflection of the fact that AMD managed not only to get out of the crisis, but also to return to strong growth and again be among the major players.

The new edition of the list, dated 2019, was made public a few days ago, and AMD takes 460th place in it. Compared to 2017, AMD's revenue for the past year increased by 23%, and this allowed her to move up in the prestigious "table of ranks" immediately 46 positions up. This is another important signal for stock market participants, which can be put on a par with the earlier entry of AMD shares into the technology stock index. Nasdaq-100 and with their receiving the title of the most profitable securities of 2018 from the index S & P 500.

AMD is far from new to the Fortune 500 list. Over its 50 years of existence, it has been among the largest companies chosen by the magazine 26 times. However, after 2015, AMD did not manage to get into the list, despite the fact that back in 2011 it occupied 357th place in it. Obviously, the company's position was shaken by the deplorable situation with the processor business, but after the advent of the Zen microarchitecture, it manages to systematically achieve more and more impressive results.

So, according to the latest report from Mercury Research, in 2018 AMD increased its share in all segments of the processor market. Its share in the first quarter of this year compared to the same period a year ago increased by 4,9% in the desktop segment, by 5,1% in the mobile segment, and by 1,9% in the server market segment. As a result, the total share of AMD reached at the moment, 13,3%, which allowed the company to regain approximately the same positions that it occupied in the processor market at the beginning of 2014.

At the same time, in the latest version of the Fortune-500 list, Intel ranks 43rd, and NVIDIA is in 268th place.
