The analyst called the start date of sales and the cost of the PlayStation 5

Japanese analyst Hideki Yasuda, who works for Ace Securities' research division, shared his own opinion on when Sony's next-generation gaming console will launch and how much it will cost initially. He believes that the PlayStation 5 will hit the market in November 2020, and the price of the console will be around $500.

The analyst called the start date of sales and the cost of the PlayStation 5

This information is consistent with earlier reports that suggested the PS5 would cost $499 in the European region. Recall that at the start of sales of PlayStaion 4, the console cost $399. The significant difference in price may be due to differences in hardware. It is already known that the new product will receive support for 8K resolution, surround sound, and an SSD will be used as an internal drive. According to some reports, the console will receive backward compatibility with PS4, which is also an important factor.

The analyst also shared his own vision of how successful PS5 sales will be. Yasuda estimates that Sony will sell 6 million units of the new generation console in the first year. It is worth noting that in the first year of sales of PS4, 15 million consoles were sold. The analyst report says that the second year of PS5 sales will be marked by a significant increase in shipments. In unit terms, this figure will reach 15 million copies, and a total of 21 million consoles will be sold in the first two years. Although these results will be more modest than those achieved in the PS4 sales process, Sony will be satisfied with this state of affairs.

Yasuda also spoke out about the fact that the recently announced streaming game service Google Stadia will not be able to compete on an equal footing with the PlayStation 5. The analyst believes that streaming services will only be able to impose full competition on future generations of game consoles.
