Activision and Infinity Ward have officially announced the next part of Call of Duty. It is called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and will be released on October 25 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. The game is set in a modern-day conflict in which "second decisions can affect the balance of power around the world."
βThis is a complete reimagining of the Modern Warfare sub-series,β said Infinity Ward co-leader Dave Stohl. β We create an emotional story inspired by the headlines of today's news. Players will meet a diverse group of international special forces and freedom fighters on exciting missions in famous European cities and the Middle East."
The new shooter will be very different from the past. Firstly, it was decided to get rid of the season pass - all future maps will be available to all players without exception. Secondly, the developers plan to add crossplay support so that users from different platforms can team up and play together.
Finally, Modern Warfare will boast a completely new engine. The press release says the technology supports "the latest advances in visual engineering", including photogrammetry, a new rendering system, volumetric lighting, 4K and HDR, ray tracing (on PC) and more.
