Amazon has introduced a new third-generation Echo Show 5 smart display with Alexa voice assistant. The novelty has compact dimensions, the diagonal of its display is only 5,5 inches, and the price is $90.
Recall that last fall, the second-generation Amazon Echo Show model is equipped with a 10,1-inch screen.
“Since we launched the first Echo Show device, customers have told us they love asking Alexa to show them things, whether it's a banana bread recipe, a shopping list, or music lyrics. With Echo Show 5, it's even easier for customers to add smart displays to every room in their home,” said Tom Taylor, senior vice president of Amazon Alexa.
The device's compact form factor is perfect for a nightstand or desk, he says, plus it comes with an HD camera shutter for privacy and new Alexa privacy features for even more control.
An Echo Show 5 user will now be able to delete voice recordings by simply saying "Alexa, delete everything I said today". The device has a button to mute the microphone, camera and listen to Alexa voice assistant.
In addition to all the usual Amazon Echo trappings, the Echo Show will come with a new smart home control panel that will allow you to display controls for smart home devices such as thermostats, security cameras, doorbells, and more.
The Amazon Echo 5 Smart Display is available for pre-order from Amazon today in white and black.
The device will ship next month in the US, UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Japan, Canada, New Zealand and Australia. In July, it will be available in India. The timing of the start of deliveries to Mexico is still unknown.
