Announced Minecraft Earth - AR game for mobile devices

The Xbox team has announced Minecraft Earth, an augmented reality mobile game. It will be distributed as a shareware model and will be released on iOS and Android. As the creators promise, the project "will open up opportunities for players that they have not seen in the entire history of the legendary series."

Users will find blocks, chests and monsters in the real world. Sometimes they will even come across small life-sized pieces of Minecraft worlds that they can interact with. As examples, the developers cite sidewalks that turn into diamond mines, and square trees in parks, behind which skeletons can hide.

β€œGather resources, fight mobs and earn experience points to further advance through the game world,” the authors say. The project will add not only monsters familiar to fans, but also completely new creatures, which they plan to talk about later. There will also be special rare creatures needed to build new buildings, find resources, and complete tests.
