This is not the first time such rumors have appeared on the Internet: even before AirPods 2 with support for wireless charging in March 2019, messages were published on the Internet that two AirPods updates were expected this year - spring and autumn.
According to the source, the main feature of AirPods 3 will be the noise reduction function. Like AirPods 2, the third generation of headphones will be produced by OEMs Inventec and Luxshare.
However, it should be taken into account that Digitimes does not have a very good reputation regarding the accuracy of forecasts associated with Apple. For example, the resource until recently assured that the canceled AirPower wireless charging station was about to go on sale. But this time the situation looks different. Back in February, Onleaks suggested that in March we should expect only a minor update to the AirPods in the form of increased battery life and a case with support for wireless charging. As for noise reduction and a black version, they will appear in the fall, that message said.
Mark Gurman from Bloomberg previously shared similar information, and in addition to the noise reduction function, he mentioned the water resistance of the AirPods 3 headphones. However, in his tweet on March 20, he admitted that their release may be delayed until 2020. Apple itself traditionally remains silent regarding its future new products.
