Gone are the days when AirPods were criticized for being similar to their wired counterparts. This wireless accessory has grown in popularity over the past couple of years, and according to a new study from Counterpoint Research, AirPods still dominate the wireless headphone market despite newer models.
Counterpoint estimates that 2018 million wireless earbuds were shipped in the fourth quarter of 12,5, with Apple devices accounting for the bulk of the volume, with the tech giant accounting for 60% of the market.
This is an impressive result considering that a number of mid-range brands also began to try to conquer the market this quarter. Even in Apple's homeland, where AirPods remain the best-selling model, Korean and Danish brands Samsung and Jabra are doing well. The share of Cupertino in China is relatively lower compared to other regions due to the growing presence of local budget devices.
