Intel filed a lawsuit against Fortress in October, but then withdrew it to file a new version Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, with Apple joining the suit as a plaintiff.

Intel and Apple allege that Fortress and firms that it either owns or effectively controls their patent portfolios, and which do not produce any technology products, bought up patents for the primary purpose of suing technology companies and did so in violation of U.S. antitrust laws.
