Apple insists that Qualcomm must also pay $3,1 billion due to the fact that it has nothing to do with the technologies for which it requires royalties.

Qualcomm, for its part, claims that Apple forced its long-time business partners to stop paying royalties, resulting in a shortfall of up to $15 billion (double the $7,5 billion in royalties owed by Foxconn, Pegatron, Wistron and Compal). .

The trial, presided over by U.S. District Judge Gonzalo Curiel, will take place at Qualcomm's headquarters in San Diego, where nearly every business district displays its logo and even a stadium that hosts about ten National Football League games. For years it was named Qualcomm Stadium.
