Apple introduced the updated MacBook Pro laptops. Updates touched primarily on the internal component of portable computers: they received more powerful Intel Core processors of the eighth and ninth generations. Another important difference from previous versions is the keyboard with an updated butterfly mechanism.
The updated 15-inch MacBook Pros feature new 7- and 9-core Intel Core i9 and Core i9980 mobile processors. The flagship Core i5-13HK is available in the maximum configuration, the clock frequency of which in Turbo mode reaches 7 GHz. The compact 4,7-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar is now available with up to 128GHz quad-core Core i13 processors and 5MB eDRAM. Although the base MacBook Pro XNUMX is still equipped with a dual-core Core iXNUMX.
Apple says the new MacBook Pro 15 will be up to two times faster than quad-core models and up to 40% faster than last year's 6-core models. Apple calls new items the fastest MacBook in history. We can only hope that this time Apple has taken a more responsible approach to the issue of cooling its laptops, and last year's incident with a significant decrease in processor frequencies in the maximum configuration will not happen again. But eight-core chips will be clearly more difficult to cool.
As for the keyboard, Apple announces the use of another improved version of the butterfly mechanism. As you know, previous versions of this mechanism were not very reliable, and many MacBook users experienced keyboard breakdowns. Apple claims to use some "new materials" in the mechanism, which should significantly reduce the likelihood of missed clicks and sticking. I would also like to note here that from today, all MacBooks with a keyboard with a butterfly mechanism are eligible for a free keyboard repair program. Previously, some models were not included in this program.
Returning to the updated MacBook Pro, we note that in addition to processors and keyboards, there are no changes in them. They are still equipped with 13,3-inch and 15,4-inch IPS Retina displays with a resolution of 2560 Γ 1600 pixels and 2880 Γ 1800 pixels, respectively. The smaller model comes with 8GB or 16GB of RAM and relies on integrated Intel Iris Plus graphics. The MacBook Pro 15 uses 16 or 32 GB of RAM and discrete graphics from Radeon Pro 555X to Radeon Pro Vega 20. Storage uses high-speed SSDs up to 4 TB.
The updated models of the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and 15-inch MacBook Pro are available starting today for $155 and $990, respectively, on Apple's official website. A configuration with the flagship Core i207, Radeon Pro Vega 990 graphics, 9 GB of RAM and a 20 TB SSD will cost more than 32 rubles.
