Apple accused of selling user data on iTunes purchases

Online sources report that Apple Inc. sued several users of the iTunes service. The company took this step after users of the service said that Apple illegally discloses and sells data on people's purchases within the iTunes service. According to them, this happens contrary to the company's advertising promises, which say: "what happens on your iPhone, stays on your iPhone."

Apple accused of selling user data on iTunes purchases

Earlier, three iTines users from Rhode Island and Michigan sued a federal court in San Francisco on behalf of hundreds of thousands of US residents whose data was allegedly disclosed without their consent. The lawsuit states that disclosing the personal data of iTunes users is not only illegal, but also dangerous because it allows you to target vulnerable segments of society. Specifically, it states that any individual or entity can purchase a list with the names and addresses of college-educated single women over the age of 70 with household incomes over $80 who have purchased country music through the iTunes Store mobile app. It is claimed that the cost of such a list is $000 per thousand users with suitable criteria.

The plaintiffs are seeking $250 in damages for each Rhode Island iTunes user whose data was disclosed, as well as $5000 for each Michigan resident affected, in accordance with applicable state privacy laws.
