Besides The Cupertino company also introduced the Apple Watch SE, the successor to the Watch Series 3 released three years ago. Watches start at $279. You can pre-order them today (at least in the US), but they will hit the market on Friday.
The model retains many of the Series 3's signature features, including fall detection, compass, always-on altimeter, and water-resistant housing. Family settings (cellular version), watch face sharing, sleep tracking and more the device will get along with the Apple Watch Series 6. There is a version with only GPS and Bluetooth 5.0, as well as a variant with cellular connectivity (it starts at $329). The SE doesn't appear to have an always-on display, which was a highlight of the Series 5.
In general, for Series 3 owners, it is hardly worth thinking about buying such a device. However, the watch uses the S5 chip, which Apple says delivers twice the performance of the Series 3. The Watch SE is the first Apple Watch available. They are designed to compete with Fitbit and other budget smartwatches. In the past, Apple's alternatives to such products have been older models of the Apple Watch sold at a discount.
The Watch SE looks very similar to the Series 4 watch that Apple discontinued with the launch of the Series 5 last year. Series 4 came with 40mm and 44mm displays, while Series 3 offered 42mm and 38mm screens in the same chassis. As noted, SE will run the watchOS 7 platform, which Apple introduced at WWDC this year.
The update also includes a new Fitness+ fitness app that offers workout tracking and virtual classes. It's the first fitness service built for the Apple Watch: users get three free months with the purchase of an Apple Watch (thereafter, the cost for those who wish will be $9,99 per month or $79,99 per year).
The price of the Apple Watch SE in Russia starts at ₽24 for the 990mm aluminum version. The 40-mm version will cost 44 rubles. Versions with LTE, it seems, will not be sold.
