Apple has set restrictions for applications related to COVID-19

Apple today implemented additional protective measures related to COVID-19. This time we are talking about the App Store. In a note to the developer community, the company explained that it will take additional steps to review applications related to the pandemic, which has begun to affect almost every aspect of life around the world.

Apple has set restrictions for applications related to COVID-19

β€œIn an effort to meet expectations, we critically evaluate applications to ensure that the data sources are trustworthy and that the developers submitting these applications are sufficiently well-known and connected to government organizations, medical NGOs, companies with deep knowledge in the field of healthcare, as well as medical or educational institutions,” Apple explained. β€œOnly developers from such reputable parties should submit applications related to COVID-19.”

In addition to limiting the number of coronavirus app developers and the complicated approval process, the company has also banned entertainment apps and games that seek to capitalize on the hot topic.

Apple has asked developers to check the "Time Sensitive Event" option when submitting urgent applications in the case of applications designed to help people during a pandemic - they will be considered as a priority. The company has pledged to waive fees from certain non-profit organizations and government agencies involved in the development of applications related to the coronavirus.
