Due to the unusually high demand for iPhone smartphones, especially the relatively inexpensive iPhone 11, which exceeded Apple's expectations, the company turned to contract partner TSMC to increase the supply of A-series chips.
According to Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter, Taiwanese semiconductor manufacturer TSMC is expected to increase quarterly production of Apple's own chips, including the next-generation Bionic processor, which was introduced with the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro in September last year. However, it is not clear if orders for the A11 system-on-a-chip, which is used in the iPhone 8 model, have also been increased.
