Apple Watch will lose support for Pokémon Go

If you're used to playing Pokémon Go using your Apple Watch, you'll soon have to change your habits. The fact is that from July 1, Niantic ceases Apple Watch support. In addition, the developers will block the ability to connect smart watches to the game.

Apple Watch will lose support for Pokémon Go

The company stated, that they want to focus on a project within one device, rather than scattering their efforts across several. However, Adventure Sync will still track your steps and earn Buddy Candy. The Pokemon themselves will now “live” exclusively in the smartphone.

Note that the Apple Watch indirectly remains in the game, since the Adventure Sync application will receive data from it, although it will work differently than before. As noted, this is not so much a departure from the Apple Watch ecosystem as a more intelligent use of the device on the wrist.

At the same time, Niantic wants to create its own wearable gadget called Pokemon Go Plus +. The system will become the basis for the new Pokemon Sleep game and will use Pokemon Sleep to study the user's sleep behavior

“Each of us spends a significant part of our lives sleeping. Turning it into entertainment is our new goal,” said The Pokemon Company CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara. And although it is not yet known how the game will use sleep data, it has already been reported that the application will be launched in 2020.
