Arch Linux migrates to Git and restructures repositories

The developers of the Arch Linux distribution have warned users that they will be moving the infrastructure for developing packages from Subversion to Git and GitLab from May 19 to 21. On migration days, publication of package updates to the repositories will be suspended and access to primary mirrors will be limited using rsync and HTTP. After the migration is complete, access to the SVN repositories will be closed, and the svn2git-based mirror will stop updating.

In addition, during the marked period, the repositories will be restructured: the β€œtesting” repository will be divided into separate β€œcore-testing” and β€œextra-testing” repositories, and the β€œstaging” repository into β€œcore-staging” and β€œextra-staging”. The contents of the "community" repository will be moved to the "extra" repository. After the restructuring, the "testing", "staging" and "community" repositories will be left empty. Users of converted repositories will need to change settings in pacman.conf to continue with normal package upgrades, such as replacing "[testing]" with "[core-testing]" and "[extra-testing]".
