Ardor 8.6

Version 8.6 of the free digital audio workstation (DAW) Ardor has been released.

The release does not include any particularly major changes, mainly because the developers are still busy working on future major releases.

The new version, among other things, fixes a bug from version 8.4 with a crash when opening the file selection dialog on Linux under certain circumstances.

Short list of changes:

  • Improved AAF support.
  • Using --gdb on Linux is now easier with automatic SIG32 handling.
  • Hidden plugins are no longer shown in the plugin list.
  • The session file version is now used in backup file names.
  • The General MIDI MIDNAM file now includes drum names.
  • There is now a display of grid lines for triplets/quintoles/septuples.
  • Improved behavior when moving single control points.
  • Pitch bending support has been added to the built-in Reasonable Synth synthesizer.
  • Reasonable Synth adds support for pitch bending.
  • Many bugs have been fixed.
  • Fixes and changes have been made to GTK/YTK. Ardor no longer uses GTK modules.
  • Added new APIs and bindings for Lua scripts.
