Along with ultra-thin gaming laptops ASUS has updated the ROG Strix series, which is a more advanced mobile gaming computers. They received increased performance, an improved cooling system, new textures and colors, designed, among other things, for the female half of the players.
The 15,6-inch version of the ROG Strix G15 (G512) and the 17,3-inch model G17 (G712) received IPS Full HD screens with a refresh rate of 240 Hz and a response time of 3 ms, as well as an optimized cooling system. Computers are now equipped with 10th Gen Intel Core processors (i7-10750H, i7-10875H, i5-10300H) along with NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super graphics and up to 32GB of DDR4 @3200MHz memory. Added two new colors Glacier Blue and Electro Punk in addition to the traditional black.
A useful innovation was the redesign of the bottom of the laptop to make it easier to access components such as RAM modules and SSD cards for self-upgrading. By the way, both 15- and 17-inch models are equipped with two M.2 NVMe PCIe drives with a total capacity of up to 1 TB, operating in RAID 0 acceleration mode, and the third slot can be used to expand disk space.
The use of "liquid metal" instead of thermal paste in the Strix G512 and G712 provides more efficient cooling and improves performance by about 10%. The use of this material made it possible to install more powerful equipment in the old case. Laptops received 3 color schemes: Original Black, Glacier Blue and Electro Punk, and branded accessories are made in the same design: mouse, pad, headphones and backpack. In addition, users can change the style of the device with the Aura Sync keyboard with customizable RGB backlighting zones and luminous decorative stripes on the sides of the laptop.
Computers received a Wi-Fi 6 communication module with enhanced range. The USB-C port supports the DisplayPort standard with the exception of power supply, which makes it somewhat difficult to work with an external monitor. The capacity of the built-in battery is 66 Wh. The dimensions and weight of the G512 are 36 x 27,5 x 2,58 cm and 2,4 kg, while the G712 models are 39,97 x 29,34 x 2,65 cm and weigh 2,85 kg.
More advanced ROG Strix SCAR 15 and 17 laptops also received a similar update. But they are equipped with IPS screens with a frequency of 300 Hz and delays of 3 ms, they have a more advanced backlight system with the possibility of key-by-key color adjustment and gradient backlighting on the edges. The laptops feature very thin bezels around three sides of the display, giving them a compact and elegant look. Computers can be equipped with a 16-thread Intel Core i9 10980HK or i7-10875H processor, NVIDIA RTX 2070 Super graphics card with a frequency of 1540 MHz in overclocking mode at 115 watts.
The Strix SCAR 17 special edition received the most powerful GeForce RTX 2080 Super graphics card with automatic ROG Boost overclocking to 1560 MHz at a consumption of 150 watts. The reinforced cooling module includes 4 radiators and 6 heat pipes, while the laptop is only 1,5 mm thicker than the standard version. The company especially emphasizes that despite the outstanding performance of this laptop, it is much more compact than other gaming solutions from the company. For example, a computer is 17% smaller, 7% thinner, and 41% lighter. 2019 and, respectively, by 26, 41, 39% - in relation to 2018 year.
The G532 and G732 come with a 66 Wh battery and are 36,03 x 27,5 x 2,5 cm and 2,57 kg and 40 x 29,3 x 2,6 cm and 2,85 kg, respectively.
