ASUS launches ROG Crosshair VIII Impact motherboard powered by AMD X570 chipset. The novelty is designed to assemble compact, but at the same time very productive systems based on AMD Ryzen 3000 series processors.
The novelty is made in a non-standard form factor: its dimensions are 203 Γ 170 mm, that is, it is slightly longer than Mini-ITX boards. According to ASUS, this should not prevent you from using it in most compact Mini-ITX cases, because they have two expansion slots, that is, they have a headroom. By the way, the mounting holes on the ROG Crosshair VIII Impact are located in the same way as on regular Mini-ITX boards.
The ROG Crosshair VIII Impact motherboard received an eight-phase power subsystem with one 8-pin Socket AM4 processor power connector. The cooling system for the power subsystem and the chipset includes not only aluminum heatsinks, but also a couple of small fans. There is a metal plate on the back of the board.
The novelty also has two slots for DDR4 DIMM memory modules, as well as one PCI Express 4.0 x16 expansion slot. In addition, ASUS has added its own SO-DIMM.2 slot to the ROG Crosshair VIII Impact, to which PCIe 4.0 lanes are connected and which installs a complete expansion card with a pair of M.2 slots (PCIe 4.0 x4 and SATA 3.0). Under the PCI Express 4.0 x16 slot on a separate board is the SupremeFX Impact IV sound card, isolated from the rest of the motherboard, which uses the Realtek ALC1220 codec and ESS Saber ES9023P DAC, as well as high-quality capacitors.
We also note that the ROG Crosshair VIII Impact has a Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5.0 wireless module, a gigabit network interface and six USB 3.1 ports, one of which is USB Type-C. The board has a POST code indicator, as well as various buttons and switches that make life easier for overclocking enthusiasts.
The ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact motherboard will go on sale in the near future, and its cost will be around $450.
