ASUS: Intel will soon expand the Coffee Lake Refresh family

Not so long ago, it became known from unofficial sources that Intel plans to soon introduce new ninth-generation desktop processors, also known as Coffee Lake Refresh. Now these rumors have been confirmed by ASUS.

The Taiwanese manufacturer has released BIOS updates for all of its Intel 300-series motherboards. In a press release published on the occasion, ASUS stated that the new BIOS versions will provide its motherboards with support for "the upcoming ninth generation Intel Core processors built on a new stepping."

Most likely, already in the next quarter, which starts in April, Intel will introduce new Core processors, including models with a locked multiplier, as well as new chips from the Pentium and Celeron families. New items should bring some performance boost compared to their predecessors. The increase will be provided, first of all, by higher clock frequencies.

Recall that at the moment there are not so many processors of the Coffee Lake Refresh generation officially presented. These are older eight-core Core i7 and Core i9 chips, as well as several six-core Core i5 and quad-core Core i3. For the most part, these are processors with an unlocked multiplier and the resulting possibility of overclocking. Now, almost six months after the release of the first Coffee Lake Refresh processors, this family will be presented in its entirety and in all price segments.
