It is possible that cars for people with disabilities in Russia will be equipped with βsmartβ assistants designed to simplify interaction with such vehicles.
The project, according to RBC, is proposed to be implemented by the Neuronet working group of the National Technology Initiative (NTI). A bill has already been developed βOn conducting an experiment on the use of neuroassistants to enable disabled people to drive passenger vehicles.β
We are talking about equipping cars with special assistants who can perceive voice and gesture commands, as well as commands given through eye movements and even the βpower of thought.β
At first, such assistants will serve to perform actions not related to driving. These can be commands, say, to change the temperature in the cabin, change the radio station, or open / close windows.
As part of the project, researchers intend to choose the most convenient method of communication between a disabled driver and a car. The experiment is proposed to be carried out in 2020-2022. Participation in it will be voluntary: people with disabilities who own a car and have a driverβs license will be able to join. At the same time, the costs of installing βsmartβ assistants will be offset from the budget.
In the future, the results of the study may form the basis of more complex neural complexes that will partially be able to take over control of the vehicle.
