The authors of the Ori dilogy want to revolutionize the ARPG genre
Ori and the Blind Forest is one of the most popular metroidvanias of recent years. Its sequel, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, will release on PC and Xbox One on March 11, 2020. The Moon Studios team, which now has just under 80 employees, is already working on the next project. Job vacancy, ΠΎΠΏΡΠ±Π»ΠΈΠΊΠΎΠ²Π°Π½Π½Π°Ρ on Gamasutra reveals interesting details about the upcoming game.
Moon Studios is seeking senior game designers for a "revolution" in the action role-playing genre. An applicant with a lot of work experience should love the Diablo series, The Legend of Zelda, Dark Souls and other games.
Moon Studios CEO and Creative Director Thomas Mahler commented on the vacancy on the ResetEra forum. βThe post says [the studio] has 'redefined' the Metroidvania genre, and I don't think that's too far-fetched. We've innovated in several areas, and platforming in Ori is definitely on a completely different level than what you see in most other metroidvanias. As for Will of the Wisps, you haven't seen anything yet," he wrote.
Later in this thread by Dancrane212 shared screenshots of an old Moon Studios prototype similar to Diablo, suggesting that it could be used as the basis for a new game.
However, Thomas Mahler said that the project would look very different.
