Swedish electric surfboard manufacturer Awake is back with its latest model, the RÄVIK_S. Recall: the original RÄVIK electric board was released in the summer of 2018. Although it was not the first such product, its innovative design helped to revolutionize this narrow field.
Now the company is working on the next premium electric surfboard. The Awake RÄVIK_S electric surfboard was recently presented at the international BOOT Düsseldorf 2020. The RÄVIK_S has a redesigned hull to improve hydrodynamic performance. The research and development for the hull design was carried out at the Rolls Royce test rigs in Karlstad, Sweden.
Powered by an 11 kW (15 hp) engine, the device is capable of reaching a top speed of 56 km/h in just 4 seconds. Surfers can cut not only coastal waves, but also ride on any water surface - be it a lake, a pond or a river, even if waves are not expected.
RÄVIK_S is equipped with a removable battery, which is probably a plus, because one charge is enough for 20-45 minutes of riding. But with a spare battery, surfers can keep the next one on the charger while they ride. A full charge takes about 80 minutes. CEO Daniel Aronsson commented: “The original RÄVIK electric board is a great product for anyone looking for a great time on the water, regardless of previous experience. With RÄVIK_S, we're giving the device a more playful feel by increasing responsiveness and increasing glide."
The RÄVIK_S is expected to enter production this spring. But you should not count on a purchase without having a fat wallet with you: for a miracle technique, they will ask for at least €16 ($900). This is how much the original Awake RÄVIK electric board costs, and nothing is said about a price reduction.
