As it turned out, at some point Bandai Namco planned to release a collection of remasters, but analysis of the international market showed that the games would not be in great demand.

β€œ[The Xenosaga compilation] actually made it into the re-release plan but failed in the market viability analysis. Sorry guys, this idea [in the minds of Bandai Namco executives] will be hard to resurrect,” Harada said with regret.

Fans of the series were disappointed, as expected. One of the fans even promised purchase 10 copies of the remaster, however Harad failed to convince: "This doesn't just apply to a specific game, but companies don't believe in promises like 'If you give me XX, I'll buy XX copies!'"

The Xenosaga games were released on the PlayStation 2 between 2002 and 2006 on a two-year hiatus. After the release of the third part, the sales of which were lower than expected, Monolith Soft decided to move away from the franchise indefinitely.

The story of Xenosaga was originally planned to be told in six parts. IN interview from 2017 series creator Tetsuya Takahashi said he was ready to take on a new issue "if someone would finance it."

Xenosaga emerged as the spiritual successor to the sci-fi RPG Xenogears for the original PlayStation. As a result, the trilogy became the impetus for the birth of Xenoblade Chronicles, the first part of which will be released in 2020 will receive a reissue on Switch.
