SteelSeries has unveiled a wireless version of its popular Rival 3 gaming mouse that promises over 400 hours of use on two AAA batteries. If the original wired version of the mouse is estimated by the manufacturer at $30, then the wireless version is $20 more expensive. This puts it on par with offerings like the Logitech G305 Lightspeed. But the latter promises only up to 250 hours of operation from a single AA battery.

The SteelSeries Rival 3 Wireless can be connected to a computer using both Bluetooth and a USB Type-A transmitter operating at a frequency of 2,4 GHz. The long-term wireless version of the Rival 3 mouse is powered by SteelSeries Quantum 2.0 technology.

The weight of the mouse without batteries is only 77 grams. With the installation of one battery, it increases to 95 grams, and with two - up to 106 grams.

The Rival 3 Wireless is SteelSeries' first gaming mouse to feature the new TrueMove Air optical sensor technology. It was developed in collaboration with the manufacturer of gaming sensors PixArt and provides a resolution of up to 18 CPI (count per inch, that is, the number of readings per inch). The sensor is claimed to be 000 inches per second (IPS) and capable of up to 450G acceleration.

Recall that the original version of the Rival 3 mouse is based on the TrueMove Core sensor at 8500 CPI, 300 IPS and with support for 35G acceleration. The mouse has a polling rate of 1000Hz and a response time of 1ms when connected to a USB transmitter. The novelty also uses mechanical right and left buttons with a claimed lifespan of 60 million clicks. The user also has access to five preset profiles, RGB backlighting, manual adjustment of the sensor and the frequency of polling the "rodent" through the proprietary SteelSeries Engine software.
