We are not talking about Bethesda Softworks' own service - Orion is a technology for optimizing games at the engine level for various streaming services like Google Stadia or Microsoft xCloud. Instead of a hardware approach, id Software's technology uses software tweaks to make streaming games more efficient in the cloud.

It is worth noting that Orion technology can work with any game engine and any streaming game platform. According to the creators, it not only reduces latency by 20%, but also reduces bandwidth requirements by 40%. Sounds very interesting - let's see how it all looks in practice.

As part of further familiarization with the technology, Bethesda Softworks invited those who wish sign up for the Doom Slayers club to participate in Doom (2016) streaming testing this year. Then invitations to participate in the test will be sent to some of the registrants. The first tests will be carried out on Apple devices with a platform no older than iOS 11, but later tests will take place on PC and Android.
