Without cash registers and sellers: the first store with computer vision has earned in Russia

Sberbank, the Azbuka Vkusa retail chain and the Visa international payment system have opened the first store in Russia that does not have any salespeople or self-service checkouts. An intelligent system based on computer vision is responsible for the sale of goods.

To use the new service, a customer needs to download the Take&Go mobile app from Sberbank and register with it by linking a bank card to their account to pay for purchases. In addition, you must specify an email address - checks will be sent to it.

To make purchases in an unusual store, it is enough to scan the QR code from the mobile application at the entrance to the Take&Go zone, take the necessary goods from the shelves and just exit: the money will be debited from the card automatically.

After reading the QR code, a β€œsmart” surveillance system comes into play, which continuously monitors the quantity and assortment of goods on the shelves in order to accurately collect the products that the buyer has chosen into a virtual basket. If a visitor took an item and then changed their mind and returned it to the shelf, the corresponding item will be immediately removed from the virtual shopping cart.

As soon as the customer leaves the store, Sberbank's Take&Go mobile app automatically debits them. After passing the payment, the buyer receives a push notification on the phone and a receipt by e-mail.

Now the system is being tested in closed mode on a limited number of customers in the Azbuka Vkusa store in the Moscow City business center (Federation Tower, Presnenskaya Embankment, 12). Within a month, as expected, the service will be available to everyone.
