No cheating: CPU-Z began to support Chinese processors Zhaoxin (VIA)

The Chinese company Zhaoxin, born from a joint venture with a Taiwanese company (VIA), reported about a significant event. The CPU-Z utility from the latest version 1.89 began to determine the parameters of Zhaoxin processors. These are the first Chinese-designed processors to be listed in the CPU-Z database. As evidence, a copy of the screen with a specific KX-5640 processor is presented.

The KX-5000 series (codenamed Wudaokou) and KX-6000 series (Lujiazui) processors are SoCs, although the ZX-200 southbridge may be present in the platform to implement some of the interfaces. In the example shown above, CPU-Z has identified the KX-5640 processor model as a 28nm solution with 4 compute cores and support for 4 compute threads. The clock frequency was 2 GHz. The amount of cache memory in the second level was 4 MB. Support for AVX, AES, VT-x, SSE4.2 and other instructions is defined, as well as Chinese national encryption algorithms SM3 and SM4. In addition, the processor has a built-in video core with the ability to play video with 4K quality. The memory controller is dual-channel with support for up to 64 GB DDR4.

KX-5000 series processors submitted in 2017. The manufacturer did not say anything about the performance of 4-core models, but the 8-core models of the KX-5000 family Π Ρ˜Π Ρ•Π Ρ–Π  Β»Ryo compete on equal terms with dual-core Intel Core i3-6100 processors (Skylake architecture). Also in the arsenal of Zhaoxin there is a KX-5540 model with a clock frequency of 1,8 GHz.

At the moment, the company is actively advertising a new 16-nm series of processors (SoC) KX-6000. Eight-core models of the KX-5000 line, apparently, have not become a mass phenomenon. In the version with 8 cores, the company has prepared the KX-6000 CPU. The clock frequency has been raised to 3 GHz and we are talking about rivalry with Intel Core i5 processors. The KX-6000 models have passed the official PCIe 3.0 and USB 3.1 Gen 1 certification. According to the developer, mass production of the KX-6000 family of processors will begin in September this year. Interest in Zhaoxin's developments is quite high. Based on Chinese processors, Lenovo PCs (Kaitian series), Tsinghua Tongfang (Chaoxiang), Shanghai Yidian Zhitong (Bingshi Biens) and other systems have been created. In the server direction, Zhaoxin processors have been used in Lenovo ThinkServer, Zhongke Shuguang, Mars Hi-Tech, Zhongxin systems and others.
