Beeline reportedly began upgrading its mobile network in Moscow last year, the largest infrastructure upgrade in the company's history. Beeline is gradually upgrading all base stations in the Russian capital to create an ultra-modern and technologically advanced communication network.

The first phase of the project will be completed by September this year. It covers all districts of Moscow, including the Central Administrative District. As a result, the network capacity will increase significantly, and the speed of the mobile Internet will increase three times. Investments at this stage will amount to approximately 5 billion rubles.

The second phase provides for the final refinement of the network and the preparation of the infrastructure for the introduction of fifth generation mobile communications. This stage of the project is planned to be completed in 2020, and financial costs may also amount to about 5 billion rubles.

The network upgrade is being carried out in partnership with Huawei. At the same time, equipment is installed that supports the NB-IoT Internet of Things technology.

At all base stations operating in the 1800, 2100 and 2600 MHz frequency bands, 4Γ—4 MIMO mode is activated during the upgrade, which can significantly improve coverage quality, increase signal penetration and data transfer rate. All equipment used also supports LTE Advanced and LTE Advanced Pro technologies, allowing you to achieve data transfer rates up to 1 Gbps. In places with the highest data traffic density, pre-5G Massive MIMO technology will be activated.
