Beeline loses mobile subscribers

VimpelCom (Beeline brand) reported on its work in the third quarter of this year: the mobile operator faced a decrease in revenue and an outflow of subscribers.

Thus, the income for the three-month period amounted to 74,7 billion rubles. This is 2,7% less than in the third quarter of last year.

Service revenue in the mobile segment decreased by 1,9% to RUB 58,3 billion. Beeline attributes this to the negative impact of the VAT increase from 18% to 20%. It is noted that growth in the areas of additional services and mobile financial services was not enough to compensate for the decline in revenue in the voice segment.

In addition, there was a 10 percent decline in revenue from sales of equipment and accessories.

It is noted that the customer base of the mobile segment decreased year on year by 2,5% to 54,8 million users. To a large extent, this is due to a decrease in sales through alternative channels after the expansion of Beeline's mono-brand stores.

“Our operations in Russia continue to face challenges related to network quality – it is improving but still lagging behind the competition; as well as the pricing structure in the market and distribution efficiency,” the operator notes.

The subscriber base of the company's convergent offers in the third quarter of 2019 grew by 17% compared to the same period of the previous year and exceeded 1,2 million customers.
