VimpelCom (Beeline brand) announced the start of testing LTE TDD technology in Russia, the use of which will double the data transfer rate in fourth-generation (4G) networks.
It is reported that LTE TDD (Time Division Duplex) technology, which provides for time division of channels, has been launched in the 2600 MHz frequency band. The system combines the spectrum, previously allocated separately for receiving and sending data. The content is transmitted alternately at the same frequencies, and the direction of traffic is dynamically adjusted depending on the needs of customers.
Beeline is currently testing LTE TDD in 232 locations across Russia. It is noted that the technology is supported by about 500 models of the most popular smartphones.
βIt is important for us that in the face of growing traffic, customers continue to use mobile Internet at high speeds. LTE TDD technology increases access speeds and helps expand the network capacity that is needed to deal with the explosive growth of LTE traffic, βthe operator notes.
It is assumed that LTE TDD will complement the already applied technical solutions. The combined spectrum will increase network capacity and speed of mobile Internet access, as well as increase the efficiency of resource use.
