Back in early February, some sources reported that the debut of new NVIDIA mobile graphics products could take place on the last day of March. For the company, linking to the last month of the first calendar quarter is not so critical, since the fiscal quarter lasts almost until the end of April. It was precisely this circumstance that CFO Colette Kress used to announce yesterday during the broadcast from the opening of GTC 2020 that all new products of the brand are being prepared for the announcement in accordance with the previously scheduled schedule and some of them will have time to positively affect NVIDIA's revenue before the end current fiscal quarter.
If we are talking about new discrete graphics solutions for laptops, then the degree of their impact on revenue can be quite large - in this segment, deliveries begin well in advance, and NVIDIA partners already expect to offer new laptop models in April. It is known from unofficial sources that a combination of new NVIDIA graphics solutions and AMD's 7nm APUs of the Renoir family will gain popularity.
NVIDIA will be ready to talk about new products "in the coming weeks," as Colette Kress explained. She announced several times about the company's intentions to present new products by the end of April during a half-hour speech, so there can be no mistake here.
From sources close to NVIDIA partners, information about the three most productive mobile graphics products of the new line has become known. The flagship will be the GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER, which in the mobile version will increase the number of active CUDA cores from 2944 to 3072 pieces. The amount of memory (8 GB) and its frequency (14 GHz) will remain the same, but the frequencies of the GPU will have to be slightly reduced in order to maintain a suitable thermal package.
The mobile version of the GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER will have 2560 CUDA cores instead of the 2304 cores of the existing sister product. The amount and frequency of the memory will remain unchanged, 8 GB and 14 GHz, the frequencies of the GPU will also decrease slightly. Finally, the βstrong midrangeβ will be the GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER in mobile version, which will increase the number of active CUDA cores from 1920 to 2176 pieces. For this graphics solution, it is planned to increase the amount of memory from 6 to 8 GB, while the memory frequency will not change - 14 GHz. In this segment, NVIDIA will allow itself to increase the frequency of the graphics processor from 960/1200 MHz to 1305/1480 MHz. Most likely, the performance difference between the GeForce RTX 2060 and GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER will be especially noticeable because of this.
